Conference Aim:
The primary aims of the conference are to provide students and fellows (undergrad, grad, pre-doctoral, and post-doctoral) in public health and allied health fields with opportunities to:
1. Disseminate student and fellow research findings at low or no cost;
2. Network with other students, fellows, faculty, and community-based providers and agencies; and
3. Network with program staff of the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
Conference Format:
The one-day conference will be held on April 21, 2008 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The conference format will include three invited lecturers followed by break-out sessions with NIDA program staff and concluding with a poster session of student and fellow research. We are pleased to have Nora D. Volkow, M.D., Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), as the Keynote Speaker at our second annual conference. Dr. Volkow's work has been instrumental in demonstrating that drug addiction is a disease of the human brain. As a research psychiatrist and scientist, Dr. Volkow pioneered the use of brain imaging to investigate the toxic effects of drugs and their addictive properties.
Conference Focus:
The primary conference objective is to support student and fellow research dissemination. Posters of student and fellow research on a range of topic areas in public health, psychiatry, psychology, and allied health fields will be considered.

Instructions for Poster Submission:
Submit abstracts of student research via email to conference coordinator, April Lawson at alawson@jhsph.edu
DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION – MARCH 15, 2008
Space is limited, abstracts will be considered upon submission.
1. Abstract should include: Study Aim; Method; Results, Conclusion-Significance.
2. Abstract length and style comparable to CPDD, SPR, APHA, APA abstracts.
3. List all author names, first author will be responsible for presenting the poster at the designated session time.
4. Students may submit up to two first-author abstracts.
5. Faculty and research staff may submit one first-author abstract if the submission is co-authored by a student or fellow.
6. Empirical reports are encouraged but theoretical papers/posters and reports of work in progress will also be considered.
7. Submissions will be considered for poster presentations only (no oral sessions).

Fee if registered by April 4, 2008: None
On-site registration fee: $20.00
